Upon completion, successful candidates will receive the Level 3 Award in Communications Cabling. The 3668-03 qualification provides eligibility for the ECS Network Infrastructure Installer (Level 3) card.
This course is aimed at existing network cabling professionals, due to the knowledge needed to successfully complete the course. It is ideal for those looking to increase their promotional prospects, as well as those already working in supervisory and management roles who want to prove their professionalism.
This qualification also provides progression for delegates who have already completed the City and Guilds 3668-02 Fibre Optic Installation and Testing course. The 3668-03 309 qualification is the best “progression pathway” for delegates with prior experience in communications cabling who wish to further their knowledge of external network design & planning.
The 3668-03 course requires Units 301 & 302 to be completed alongside one additional unit in order to achieve the qualification.
Unit 301 This unit covers the safe working practices and behaviours required to work in the public highway, underground, overhead and internal networks to the safety standards as laid out by legislation and industry standards. It will also develop the student’s communication skills and behaviours with customers, peers and hierarchy.
Unit 302 This unit provides learners with the underpinning knowledge and skills required to progress within a variety of job functions. The concepts will be relevant to both wired and wireless components of data and telecommunications networks. Students will explore issues such as enterprise cabling and telecoms utilities.
Unit 309 This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of the industry standards and requirements involved in external network design & planning. Learners will develop an understanding of the considerations, skills, and procedures necessary to plan an external fibre network.
Our 3668-03 course will be delivered in-house at our training facility in Melksham, Wiltshire.
To complete units 1, 2 & 9 attendance at our facility is required for 5 days Monday-Friday.
At our facility, students will be required to complete theory classes and written assignments for each unit. The assignments include demonstrating knowledge of the relevant safe working practices and behaviours and required fundamentals. Unit 309 involves completing a series of tasks such as, carrying out a paper site survey, identifying design options, documenting design choices, and identifying the works packages that make up the project.
