The MaxTester 730D PON/metro OTDR is designed to meet the demands of even the most complex fibre networks. This rugged, lightweight device features a large 7-inch, outdoor-enhanced touchscreen, 12-hour battery life and an industry-leading onboard PDF reporting and post-processing system. The power EXFO shines, with a dynamic range up to 39dB for up to 132 km P2P, short dead zones, and 1650 live testing for FTTx applications. The Swap-Out Connectors make field repairs a breeze, as they are replaceable whenever necessary for optimal performance with undue service cost and downtime.

With the brand new 700D series, you can benefit from many changes and added extras from the previous MaxTester Series. Benefit from EXFO's swap-out connectors, which provide full flexibility for both APC or UPC options - both now available with iOLM. As well as this, an in-line power meter (OPM) is now included on all models. The MAX-730D offers users 1650 Live Testing which is a future-proof solution to test FTTx networks, as well as 1310/1550/1650 Live Testing on a single port. EXFO offer a 3-year warranty included with all models, at Fibreplus we have chosen to extend this to 5 years to secure your investment. The standard features of the unit include 12-hour battery life, plug-and-play hardware options, such as VFL, power meter and USB tools in order to make every technician’s job easier.

Swap Out Connectors

Maximise your performance over time due to no downtime

- OTDR connectors are damaged over time due to contamination which impacts optical performances. Due to the impact of downtime, customers often wait until the unit’s calibrations are due to replace the connectors. With the 700D series allowing for swap-out connectors, engineers will now benefit from being able to benefit from the best optical performances without having to send the unit in. Simply swap the connector and get back to work with no downtime. 

Low price with no recalibration cost

- The replacement of a fixed connector requires recalibration which adds to extra costs. The swap-out design doesn't require recalibration after the replacement as the module is calibrated from the internal connector which won't be impacted by the swap. Calibration still required within the manufacture’s stated time period. 

Optimised maintenance cost

- EXFO has included an onboard step-by-step diagnosis of the 700D series which will inform the user which connector needs to be replaced. Previous struggles of knowing which connector needs to be replaced have vanished and you can now know when it is necessary for the connector to be replaced.

In-Line Optical Power Meter (OPM)

- Now standard with all 700D Series units

- The in-line power meter is an essential tool for frontline technicians. It can be used to identify a fibre with a tone or to check the power level of the signal before troubleshooting

- Troubleshooting jobs often start with a power level measurement and then an OTDR shot is done as a second step. It serves to know if the failure caused is a break or a bad element to repair. Having a power meter in-line streamlines the workflow, as the tech can perform both steps without disconnecting the fibre. 

1650 Live Testing

- 1650nm is the future-proof solution to test FTTx networks and supports XGS-PON

- For FTTx troubleshooting, an in-line PON power meter is offered as an option (OPM2) and it’s valid both for OTDR and iOLM. Ideal for more specific FTTx activation or troubleshooting needs.

- 1650 Live wavelength is offered alone or in combination with 1310/1150 nm dark wavelengths

- Any network PON and PTP network tested today at 1625nm can be tested with 1650, with higher isolation from transmission band and filtering capabilities for live FTTx networks. For dark networks, 1650nm is more attenuated by macrobends, improving their detection.

1310/1550/1650 Live on a single port

- With dark and live wavelength on a single port it becomes possible to work on (network builds) construction jobs requiring 1310/1550 or 1310/1550/1650 tests as well as completing jobs on FTTx troubleshooting live fibre.
