What is the VIAVI Hyperscale Data Centre Technician Course?

This 1-day course aims to provide the requirements to become a VIAVI-Certified Hyperscale Workflow Technician.  

Learners will develop knowledge on how to use VIAVI INX inspection probes and perform length, link loss/attenuation, and polarity tests using the MPOLx/OLTS-85 for MPO, MMC, LC and SN/MDC architectures in accordance with standards set by top Hyperscalers.

Who should attend?

This course is aimed at data centre technicians responsible for using the MPOLx/OLTS-85 for hyperscale construction certification. It is also suitable for communications engineers looking to gain certified skills specific to hyperscale data centre inspection and testing.  This course is designed for teams working within Data Centre environments and requires a minimum of 6 delegates.

What are the course requirements?

Learners will need to have prior experience in communications cabling, such as the City & Guilds 3668-02 award, VIAVI TT-Telecom certification, or equivalent knowledge through experience in a network installation and testing role.

What does the course cover?

Participants will learn how to: 

  • - Perform proper inspection and cleaning techniques of fibre end faces 
  • - Navigate the MPOLx/OLTS-85 GUI and menus 
  • - Demonstrate ability to properly set a test reference using the MPOLx/OLTS-85 for a variety of architectures  
  • - Demonstrate ability to push label lists to instruments, set up and perform loss/length tests using VIAVI software, INX, MPOLx/OLTS-85 and manage test results, following procedures specified by top hyperscalers 
  • - Successfully complete the requirements to become a VIAVI-Certified Hyperscale Workflow Technician 

How do you complete the course?

Learners will need to attend our training centre in Melksham, Wiltshire for 1 day to complete hands-on practical exercises and sit an online theory exam.  

Upon successful completion, learners will receive the VIAVI Hyperscale Testing Workflow certification.  This course is available for on-location or virtual training; please get in touch with our team for details and pricing.

  • Having reached out to multiple training centres in order to get my level 1 & 2 for the C&G 3668 - 02 in Fibre Optics, I eventually settled with Fibreplus in Melksham which is a 3 hr drive for me. The reason for my choice was simply the assistance, professionalism of the staff with my enquiry & questions especially Stef who is brilliant with her knowledge & communication, if she didnt have the answer she got it & called me back. The support that I got when doing the self study was 2nd to none (so many emails LOL) . Then came the in house training & exam prep then exams. Here Peter was brilliant taking time to explain thoroughly and assist in the practical sessions splicing, testing, & walking through each process. Happy to say I passed the exams.
