What do the units cover?
To achieve the full level 3 certificate students will need to complete 301 & 302 alongside one additional unit. At Fibreplus we offer both these core units as well as two additional units.
Please note we can accommodate a maximum of three units per course run (301 & 302 + 307 or 309).
Unit 301 This core unit covers the safe working practices and behaviours required to work in the public highway, underground, overhead and internal networks to the safety standards as laid out by legislation and industry standards. It will also develop the students communication skills and behaviours with customers, peers and hierarchy.
Unit 302 This core unit provides learners with the underpinning knowledge and skills required to progress within a variety of job functions. The concepts will be relevant to both wired and wireless components of data and telecommunications networks. Students will explore issues such as enterprise cabling and telecoms utilities.
Unit 307 This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of the fault-finding tools and processes involved when determining faults on a communications network. Students will apply this understanding by demonstrating the appropriate use and selection of tools when undertaking troubleshooting of faults on a network.
Unit 309 This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of the industry standards and requirements involved in external network design & planning. Learners will develop an understanding of the considerations, skills, and procedures necessary to plan an external fibre network.
